This car was lovingly restored from the bare chassis up between 2005 – 2007. The body and all the sheet metal are original, stripped to bare metal, straightened as needed, primed and given a first-class paint job in BRG. New wood was fitted in the body where needed. The doors fit and work perfectly. New leaf springs were fitted, new brakes and cables, new shock absorbers, modern half-shafts taper-fitted to new rear splined hubs, new driveshaft, the original gearbox was overhauled (but 2nd gear is still noisy, as they all seem to be!). An electric overdrive unit was remotely installed between the gearbox and differential. The Marles-Weller steering box was overhauled, new tie-rod ends were fitted. The engine was completely overhauled, bored +.060”, fitted with a new, modern forged crankshaft and new connecting rods with insert shell bearings, new rocker arms. The vertical-drive housing was fitted with an oil seal above the dynamo. The Centric supercharger (originally fitted at the factory) was overhauled in England by Centric specialist, Nigel Reilly, and is fitted with an overhauled SU 1-1/4” type H carburetor. The clutch was overhauled. All the electrical components were overhauled, a new wiring harness installed and a new battery fitted. The dashboard was made by Craig Seabrook of the Whitworth Shop and the instruments overhauled by John Marks in England. All the brightwork was re-chromed, the aluminum pieces polished and the windshield glass is new. The interior was custom-made by Award Interiors in Sacramento (top quality leather seats and vinyl panels as original); the new top, ½ tonneau and side curtains made by Jim Silva in San Leandro. The original outside-laced wheels have new 400 x 19” Classico 3-block tires and new inner tubes. As you would expect, the car starts, runs and drives extremely well. Less than 1000 miles are on the car since the restoration was finished. Some deviations from original were consciously made during the restoration to improve the car’s appearance and roadability in today’s traffic conditions.
